The publication “Executive Roundtables for the South-Southeast Cultural and Creative Industries: A Permanent Space for Inter-Institutional Coordination of Cultural and Creative Industries in Mexico’s South-Southeast Region” is a joint project between the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and UNIT. It aims to strengthen the role of cultural and creative industries (CCI) as a driver of economic development in the region.

This document shares the experience of work carried out in the states of Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Yucatán, where inter-institutional executive roundtables were established to identify and overcome bottlenecks limiting the growth of CCIs. UNIT’s methodological approach was structured in three phases: strategy design and validation, preparation and training, and implementation and follow-up, enabling technical support tailored to local needs.

Among the main outcomes are the establishment of permanent executive roundtables, the identification of improvement opportunities for fair trade in handicrafts, and the consolidation of a South-Southeast Inter-Institutional CCI Network that facilitates collaboration among public, private, and civil society actors. This publication not only documents the process and key learnings but also offers recommendations for replicating the model in other contexts.
